Munchkins.
It's that time of year where I just post pictures of kids being hilarious.
Oh the ups of being a teacher.

Sunsets and Concerts
Because only in the Czech Republic is a music festival at a
psychiatric facility a totally normal thing to do on
a Sunday afternoon.

Únětice, Czech Republic
Let's take a nice stroll through a forest.
Then we'll go to a random micro brewery where we'll watch hockey.
Finally we'll end up at an old cowshed for a concert.

Proč ne?

Bulgur > Rice
Seriously. I love bulgur. So. Much. More. Than rice.

Nada Esta Prohibido
I feel like this could make for a good life motto.
Definitely makes for a great background at my birthday slash saying
goodbye to one of my besties dinner

Čarodějnice
Witch Burning Day is easily my favorite of all the Czech holidays.
What's not to love? Beer, Fire, Witches, OH MY!

Once upon a time, Jimmie got bored, went to the grocery store,
and bought a box of red hair color. Everyone loved it.

So. Much. Beer
Huge, old, wooden barrels of delicious, unfiltered, unpasteurized Pilsner Urquell beer.
Did I mention it's delicious?

Who doesn't love a good Czech beer and a sunny day in a boat on the Vltava?

First weekend that even pretended to look and feel like Spring.
We took advantage.

St. Patrick's Day
I swear I'm wearing green shoes.
I also swear that we drank Jameson whiskey all night.

One of my favorite Czechs
For anyone you thinks Czech people are always angry and don't know how to have fun,
I would like you to meet Vlasta. He's amazing and totally knows how to have fun!

Hungarian/Bulgarian/Russian/Polish-inspired cabbage rolls
These were super time consuming to make but incredibly delicious. I ate them three days in a row and then froze the rest. Now I have a wonderful wintry meal to eat anytime I don't feel like cooking but still want real food.

Enjoy!

I've decided at least once a month this will involve a picture of food and a recipe for those of you who care to try it yourself.

This recipe takes awhile (given you have to let dough rise, make filling and make sauce) but it's worth it and honestly not difficult as long as you've got the patience. I did laundry, cleaned my room and made lesson plans at the same time.

Homemade veggie calzone and spicy marinara sauce

Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012

I can't keep up with a photo a day, clearly. I'll change my banner soon enough, but this year I'll try for 52 photos. That's one per week.

That'll be a challenge in and of itself considering I lost my camera at a New Years Eve party. Oh, New Years.

Normally this would upset me, but:
A) I can't change it and there's enough stress in my life without worrying about something that a lot of people can't even afford to have in the first place. (Besides, I've screwed up every single electronic device I own in 2011, why should this be any different.)
B) Typically I lose and/or mess up my camera within a year, I had this one for a year and a half. Pretty good if you ask me.

So, to start the year off for you:
