Narcisy

Ah, daffodils. One of the few flowers I can name when I see it.

Spring Has Sprung

Cliché I know but you had better get used to seeing a lot of these.
I'm the queen of super-macro flower shots.
Love it.

Long Exposure

Instead of going home at 5 a.m., I went to Charles Bridge and took some long exposures.
Why not?
P.S. The castle is entirely dark at night. No lights. At all.

Happy Birthday to John!

John's birthday is on Monday so our night consisted of a lot of this.

Leaf Less

I imagine everything is going to look so incredibly different once leaves and flowers return.

Eggplant Parmesan

I felt like death so naturally I made Eggplant Parmesan.
It totally cured me.
If you ask nicely, I might even give you the recipe.

Taking Corners

I always loved driving places that had a view and curves.

Super Moon

I don't care what you say, the Super Moon was huge and bright.
I could totally tell the difference.

Ghostly

These are the kind of pictures I take when I'm
walking home in the wee hours of the morning.

Slang

My friend likes to teach his students really useful slang, such as all the levels of drunk.

Castle Castle Everywhere

I don't think you understand how many angles I've seen the Castle from.
All of them.

A Little Taiwan in Prague

I saw this place near my apartment the other day. I hope to try it soon.
Maybe I'll actually be able to get some decent Chinese food in this place

St. Vitus Cathedral

I love churches.

I just love the intricacy of the design and how absolutely beautiful they are. You don't have to believe in everyday (or even anything) that they stand for to simply appreciate the amazing architecture among churches.

Also, this gothic-looking cathedral was begun in 1344 but many parts of it weren't completed until 1929. Just by looking, it was worth every second it took to build it.

I recommend visiting as it's one of the few places in the Castle area that has free entry and it's hella air conditioned.

Flag Burning War Memorial

War Memorial 1938-1945
I've seen this memorial a number of times and never taken a picture of it and finally I just had to get off the tram and do it. A number of things fascinate me about it, not least of which the fact that I can't seem to find any information about who created or commissioned it and when.

Particularly of interest to me is why they chose to memorialize World War II through a charred version of the national flag. I'll let you know when I find more information one day. Maybe I'll just have to take one of those tours one day.

Sunny Days

Spring is coming. I can feel it!
But apparently we're looking at one more quick snowfall before we actually get to enjoy it. I tell you what though, I'm definitely going to buy some flowers to hang up in my little balcony area. So excited to test out my green thumb for the first time.

Klášterní Pivovar Strahov

Best. Beer. In. Prague. Seriously.
I actually went here twice this week because they have a new seasonal beer on tap for two weeks only. It's delicious. I wish I could just drink it straight from the shiny tanks they have in the brewery.

Hunting for Views

I love that you can just barely see Petřín Tower through the trees.
I also love that soon there are going to be so many leaves and flowers on all the trees around town that you won't be able to even see Petřín anymore. It's like a treasure hunt! I'm so excited for the upcoming Spring.

Czech is Still Hard

Flashcards!
I think between flashcards and hanging out with some of my students, I might actually learn some useful Czech soon. I also forecast the ability to put together sentences that make sense. Unlike ones like, "Madonna je heska," "Pamela Andersonova je fake," and "Cukr je cizi."

What?

Advertising

There are these ads for advertising found in the metro.

They make me absolutely crack up. I get that it's not actually an ad implying you should eat your three-pack of genuine leather shoes. But seriously.
They kind of remind me of those billboards back home: "Do Billboard Work? Just Did!"

I think the best part is that they're all in English.

Laser Show

They did a light show on the Astronomical Clock.

They originally did this back in October for the 600th anniversary of the clock (this clock is older than America...). For some reason (so not complaining) they decided to do it again last night. It was epic!

Homemade Brunch

I made my own version of eggs benedict (bacon instead of ham) and home fries. Yum!
